Children do not experience the type of panic attack that an adult receives; one that may simulate a heart attack or cause major difficulties. But, anxiety and panic in children is a very real disorder and there are some possible reasons why the attacks occur. Children can experience anxiety with some extreme stressors, OCD, various phobias, and daily events.
An extreme stressor such as a disaster, death of a parent or loved one, an accident, or the witnessing of something disturbing can create an anxiety disorder. Various symptoms are varied such as not eating, not sleeping, having nightmares, or living in fear this incident may happen again.
OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) is very commonly heard about in adults. But this is a real disorder that can be found in some children. Unwanted thoughts consume the thought process of the child, and this can lead to anxiety that pushes them to do repeated or ritualistic behaviour in order to soothe this anxiety. The child may follow a routine over and over again such as checking information repeatedly, organizing things in the exact same way every time, or having irrational fear over something not following the compulsive routine.

Children can experience the same phobias we see in adults. Unexplained fears towards various places, events, or objects can be experienced. A phobia can be persistent and some physical symptoms that can occur are headaches, stomach issues, a loss of temper, or a need to be very close to someone at all times.
Daily events can also create anxiety in children. Situations in the daily life and routine, things that happen at school, incidents with friends, and any other regular situation can create panic or fear. It is important to monitor the symptoms and try to find out what situations are creating this stress.
Anxiety disorders are real in children. It is not just confined to adults. Children experience similar stresses, phobias, and situations as adults do; and many of the symptoms are the same. If there are symptoms then treatment through consultation is very important.
