Green tea has many health benefits, but is "green tea fat burner" really an accurate term?
The answer is yes.
It has been shown to affect weight loss in 2 ways - increasing endurance and burning fat. Let's look at these 2 benefits:
Endurance - in a study with athletes, green tea was shown to increase their endurance. What that means to you is that it can help you work out and exercise longer. Longer periods of exercise and activity mean that you burn more calories. Burning more calories means that you lose more weight - and you lose it faster.

Fat burning - the same study showed that the consumption of green tea helped athletes with "fatty acid utilization." That means they burned fat better, longer, and faster.
So the combination of increased endurance and higher fat burning levels make this herb a fantastic way to lose weight. One important note - the benefits were not seen from a single dose. The effect was seen after daily doses over the course of days and weeks.
How much should you consume? Well, the optimal levels appear to be between three and ten cups per day. (Most researchers leaned towards the higher end of that range.) That is a lot to drink, but you can get all of the fat burning benefits from taking a green tea supplement instead of drinking tea.
In fact, you can get even more benefits from taking a supplement that has nutrients in addition to green tea - the ingredients all work together (this is called "synergy") and the combined effect is much better than simply taking a single extract without the added nutrients. You can also take a supplement that is free of caffeine.
Taking a supplement instead of drinking tea is much more convenient as well. You can simply carry your supplements with you and take them wherever you are.
